Abstract
The article focuses on engaging secondary students in learning trigonometry through student-centered, hands-on activities that promote intrinsic motivation and deeper understanding. It presents various instructional strategies and projects, such as constructing clinometers, exploring trigonometric ratios using group measurements, investigating real-world applications via research reports, and connecting circular motion to sinusoidal graphs through interactive experiments. The use of differentiated instruction methods like the RAFT (Role, Audience, Format, Topic) strategy and opportunities for student choice are emphasized to enhance engagement and agency. These approaches aim to counteract declining student motivation in mathematics by making trigonometry relevant, accessible, and enjoyable, thereby supporting long-term learning success.
