Abstract

This article focuses on the relationship between pruritus (chronic itch) and patient-reported fatigue using data from the All of Us (AoU) database. The study identified 22,803 patients with pruritus and matched them to 91,212 controls, finding that those with pruritus had a significantly higher prevalence of fatigue (40.81% vs. 22.06%). After adjusting for demographic and psychological factors, chronic pruritus was associated with a 56% increased odds of fatigue, with particularly strong associations observed in chronic pruritus of unknown origin (CPUO), prurigo nodularis, and atopic dermatitis. These findings highlight the substantial impact of pruritus on fatigue and underscore the importance of addressing itch-related symptoms to improve patient quality of life.
