Abstract
Meta-analysis is a statistical procedure that combines the results of multiple scientific studies on the same topic. It allows for a more precise estimation of effects and identification of general trends in research. However, there are common errors that researchers make when conducting meta-analyses. These include misinterpreting the I-squared value, not properly examining outliers, using the wrong measures for effect size, not accounting for correlated observations, including studies with small sample sizes, and failing to conduct sensitivity and asymmetry analyses. These errors can lead to incorrect conclusions and have serious consequences in scientific research and clinical practice. It is recommended to work with a biostatistician to ensure the validity and appropriateness of statistical analysis methods used in meta-analyses. [Extracted from the article]
