Abstract
The article focuses on integrating data science and data literacy into the K-12 mathematics curriculum to better prepare students for a data-driven world. It proposes investigating models that embed core data science practices—such as data wrangling, visualization, and modeling—within existing mathematics instruction, emphasizing real-world, project-based learning to enhance student engagement, critical thinking, and equity. The study outlines a mixed-methods research approach involving curriculum development, implementation, and professional development evaluation for teachers, while also addressing challenges like teacher preparedness and ethical considerations related to data use. The goal is to develop an evidence-based framework and recommendations to modernize mathematics education, making it more relevant and inclusive for all students.
