Abstract

The article explores how algebra tiles, along with deliberate procedural and conceptual variation, can make algebra more meaningful and less cognitively overwhelming. It emphasizes that manipulatives and representations play a crucial role in developing deeper relational understanding of mathematical concepts and fostering meaningful classroom discussions about mathematical relationships and structures.
