Abstract

Handelman proposes a critical theory of this process, so the mathematician in me jumps to this promised Eldorado of new theorems and starts a critical reading of the book. This book, published in 2019 as an open-access edition of the Fordham University Press, attracts by its title. A certain animosity between mathematics and cultural and aesthetic theory has existed since long before the period studied in the book, and even within mathematics itself.
