Abstract
The article focuses on the Second Battle of Lechfeld, fought between Otto the Great's Ottonian forces and the invading Hungarian Magyars in August 955. Amidst a domestic crisis, Otto sought to defend East Francia from the Magyars, who aimed to exploit the region's instability. The battle unfolded with Otto employing strategic formations and disciplined tactics, ultimately leading to a decisive victory over the Magyars, who suffered significant casualties and retreated in disarray. This defeat marked a turning point for the Magyars, leading to their eventual transition from a nomadic lifestyle to the establishment of the Hungarian Kingdom under King Stephen I, while Otto solidified his power and was later crowned Emperor of Rome, reviving the Holy Roman Empire.
