Abstract
The article focuses on the history of the Saint-Jean de Louisbourg bell, one of three bells given as a gift by King Louis XV of France to the chapel of the Fortress of Louisbourg in 1735. Topics include fortified seaport of Louisbourg was a significant military and trading post, strategically located to defend the St. Lawrence estuary; and part of the collection at the Château Ramezay Historic Site and Museum of Montréal.
