Abstract
This article examines the impact of military blast exposure on self-reported post-concussion symptoms among veterans. Using data from 48 post-deployment Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom veterans, the study found that those with a history of blast exposure during military service reported significantly higher levels of somatosensory, affective, cognitive, and vestibular symptoms on the Neurobehavioral Symptom Inventory (NSI) compared to veterans without such exposure. The findings highlight the importance of assessing blast exposure history, implementing preventive measures to reduce exposure, and developing targeted treatments to improve neurological outcomes in this population.
