Abstract
The article discusses a study on the mental health of lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) adults, focusing on the impact of structural stigma related to state policies and cultural norms. Conducted by researchers at Case Western Reserve University, the study utilized a longitudinal dataset linking policy and cultural factors to mental health outcomes among cisgender LGB adults, revealing that bisexual women faced heightened mental health challenges. The findings indicated that while policy protection and cultural acceptance were not independent predictors of LGB mental health, there was a notable exception for lesbian women, where policy protection correlated with reduced mental distress. The researchers advocate for future studies to consider the evolving nature of policy and culture in relation to LGB mental health. [Extracted from the article]
