Abstract
The article focuses on HMS Warspite, a notable super-dreadnought of the Royal Navy and the second ship of the Queen Elizabeth Class, which set a standard for early 20th-century warship design. Launched in 1913 and commissioned in 1915, Warspite participated in significant naval battles, including the Battle of Jutland, and was recognized for its extensive battle honors. The ship underwent several modernizations throughout its service, including a comprehensive refit from 1934 to 1937, and played crucial roles during World War II, including the D-Day landings. Ultimately, Warspite was scrapped in 1955 after a notable service history, including being affectionately nicknamed the "Grand Old Lady." [Extracted from the article]
