Abstract
This article discusses the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. The fighting began after Hamas gunmen killed around 1,200 people in cross-border raids, prompting Israel to launch a bombing campaign and ground offensive. Egypt is playing a crucial role in aid delivery and peace negotiations as it is the neighbor to the Gaza Strip and has the only border crossing allowed by Israel. The article also mentions a four-day humanitarian truce brokered by Egypt and Qatar, as well as the involvement of other Arab and Muslim leaders in condemning Israel's actions. It highlights South Africa's anti-Israel stance, with the country's parliament adopting a motion to suspend diplomatic relations with Israel until a ceasefire is agreed upon.
