Abstract
The article focuses on a prisoner of war exchange between Russia and Ukraine, in which 175 individuals from each side were swapped, mediated by the United Arab Emirates. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy confirmed that most Ukrainian prisoners had been held since 2022 and included military personnel and civilians. Russia's defense ministry stated that the returned soldiers are currently in Belarus receiving medical and psychological care. The exchange occurred ahead of a 32-hour ceasefire declared by Russian President Vladimir Putin for Orthodox Easter, with Ukraine pledging to reciprocate any violations. Since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022, over 70 prisoner swaps have taken place, often mediated by Turkey and Gulf countries. [Extracted from the article]
