Abstract
The author recalls her experience of meeting the Liberians in 2001 who resettled as refugees in the U.S. after fleeing the civil war and seeking asylum in the West. She tells about starting a legal advice office with a group of friends to work on the claims of the Liberian refugees with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). She discusses the state of refugee matters in the U.S. in the early 2000s and the later limitation set by the government for refugee resettlement.
