Abstract

The article discusses the resurgence of south-south cooperation, particularly in light of the challenges facing international development and the decline of traditional bilateral aid. It highlights the historical context of south-south cooperation, tracing its roots from anti-colonial movements to the establishment of the U.N. Office for South-South Cooperation, and examines the evolving dynamics of economic integration among developing countries. Despite significant economic ties emerging, the article questions whether this integration translates into genuine solidarity and political unity among poorer nations, suggesting that while economic cooperation has advanced, the idealistic goals of collective self-reliance and solidarity remain unfulfilled.
