Abstract
The article explores reality and myth surrounding World War II, referred to as the "Good War." Topics discussed include the role of storytelling in supporting the polite fictions related to the postwar consensus, the role of the U.S. in Second World War, the role of former U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt in obscuring the story of how the U.S. entered the war and the myth that the Allies liberated the death camps in German-occupied Poland.
