Abstract
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is set to visit the US military base at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, where some undocumented migrants have been held as part of President Donald Trump's immigration policies. Hegseth will tour the Migrant Operations Center and the Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility, receiving briefings on mission operations. The base has also housed suspected terrorists and enemy combatants since the September 11, 2001 attacks, and recently held about 180 Venezuelans before they were flown back to Venezuela. The Pentagon stated that the trip facilitates temporary detention of undocumented immigrants pending return to their country of origin or another appropriate destination. [Extracted from the article]
