Abstract
The article focuses on a study examining the impact of Aeromedical Officer (AMO) training on mental health outcomes for Navy and Marine Corps aviation personnel. Conducted by the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute, the research analyzed 501 waiver requests for individuals diagnosed with mental health conditions, finding that those evaluated by AMO-trained providers were 2.1 times more likely to receive waivers, which helps prevent career disruptions and reduces operational costs. The study concludes that AMO training enhances cultural competence among providers, leading to improved service delivery and outcomes for both personnel and military commands.
