Abstract
The Ford of Broe, on the River Boyne, Co. Meath, lies south-west of Newgrange. This article explores the etymology of the ford’s name, its physical character, the archaeological and historic features in its vicinity, the approach roads which served it, and possible references to it in historic literature. Finally, the significance of the ford for understanding the archaeology of the Brú na Bóinne World Heritage Site is assessed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
