Abstract
The article focuses on the legendary Korean admiral Yi Sun-sin, who is celebrated for his innovative naval strategies and ship designs during the Imjin War against Japan in the late 16th century. Born in 1545 during the Joseon Dynasty, Yi rose through military ranks despite political challenges and corruption within the military. He is particularly noted for developing the geobukseon, or turtle ship, which featured iron plating and a unique design that provided significant advantages in naval combat. Yi's strategic prowess led to several decisive victories against the numerically superior Japanese fleet, ultimately culminating in the successful defense of Korea and his posthumous recognition as 'Loyal Valorous Lord Yi.'
