Abstract
The US is considering recognizing Russian control of Crimea as part of a peace agreement with Ukraine, signaling President Trump's eagerness to secure a ceasefire deal. This move could benefit Russian President Putin, who has long sought international recognition of Russian sovereignty in Crimea. However, Ukrainian President Zelenskiy has stated that he will not cede territory to Moscow, and the US proposal would need further discussion with Kyiv. The Paris talks also focused on security guarantees for Ukraine and plans for a postwar reassurance force in the country. [Extracted from the article]
