Abstract

The article focuses on the escalation of a territorial dispute between Thailand and Cambodia following Thailand's accusation that Cambodia planted new land mines on the Thai side of their shared border. Three Thai soldiers were injured by these mines, which Thailand claims were recently laid and violate international law, specifically the United Nations' Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention. The dispute intensified after a deadly exchange of gunfire in May at Chong Bok, a contested border area, with both countries blaming each other for the violence. Cambodia has sought resolution through the International Court of Justice, which Thailand does not recognize, while both nations have increased military presence and restricted border crossings critical for trade.
