Abstract
The US government is considering a plea deal for Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, which would pave the way for his extradition. The Australian government has requested that Assange be allowed to enter a felony guilty plea and return directly to Australia. The US government has submitted assurances to a London court regarding Assange's First Amendment rights, and there will be a hearing on May 20 to further test those promises. Assange has been in prison or in the Ecuadorian embassy in London since 2012, and he is facing criminal charges in the US for releasing classified documents. [Extracted from the article]
