Abstract
The article focuses on the life of Father Ludwig Gottfried Schenker-Angerer, a former Austrian entrepreneur and later monk who lived in Austria during the National Socialist era. Originally regarded as a National Socialist, his stance against the Nazis changed, putting him in danger. Despite his efforts to distance himself from the NSDAP, he was arrested after the war for alleged illegal membership but was ultimately exonerated by US authorities and later by Austrian authorities. After the war, he entered a Cistercian monastery and dedicated himself to a life of faith and community. The article highlights the complexity of his identity and the challenges he faced as he tried to come to terms with his past and find his place in a changing world. [Extracted from the article]
