Abstract
In the morning, the men were relieved and marched to a rest area where after his platoon officer had issued him rum, Arnold slept for 24 hours and woke up hungry, his Battle of Messines over. The full history of a battle can never be written, for it would need to account for the experiences of all participants, which is not something that could ever be accomplished.
