Abstract
The article explores how Liudprand's tenth-century historical work blends sharp personal grievances with political argument to defend the Saxon dynasty under Otto the Great. Topics include Liudprand's scathing portrayal of Berengar and his wife Willa as tyrannical figures, the Antapodosis as both vital historical source and polemical narrative, and the tension between objective history and the author's personal vendettas within the broader political landscape of Italy.
