Abstract
Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has demanded the demilitarization of the forces of the new Syrian administration in southern Syria, following the fall of the Bashar Al-Assad regime. Israel has advanced into Syria and extended its control of the Golan Heights, a disputed territory seized from Syria in 1967. Netanyahu also emphasized Israel's commitment to protecting the Druze community in southern Syria, which resides in the Israel-controlled section of the Golan. The United Nations still considers the Golan Heights legally part of Syria, despite US recognition of Israeli sovereignty in the region. [Extracted from the article]
