Abstract
The article focuses on the Battle of Norfolk, which occurred during the Gulf War on February 27, 1991, as part of Operation Desert Sabre. Coalition forces, led by General Norman Schwarzkopf, executed a strategic 'left hook' maneuver to bypass heavily fortified Iraqi defenses in Kuwait, instead attacking from the Iraqi-Saudi border. The battle involved intense fighting against the Iraqi Republican Guard, equipped with T-72 tanks, and highlighted the technological superiority of Coalition forces, particularly the American M1 Abrams tanks. Despite facing fierce resistance, the Coalition successfully captured Objective Norfolk, resulting in significant Iraqi losses and paving the way for further advances into Kuwait. Casualty estimates indicate that the Coalition suffered 36 dead and 110 wounded, while Iraqi losses included hundreds killed and thousands captured. [Extracted from the article]
