Abstract

The article reports the death of Steve Albini, a 61-year-old alternative rock pioneer and recording engineer known for his influential work with bands such as Nirvana, the Pixies, and PJ Harvey. Albini, who preferred the credit "Recorded by Steve Albini" over "producer," was also the frontman of underground bands Big Black and Shellac and founded the Chicago-based Electrical Audio Recording studio. Renowned for his innovative and uncompromising approach to music production, Albini was preparing for a Shellac tour supporting their upcoming album at the time of his death from a heart attack.
