Abstract

DEPARTMENTS COLUMNS IN THE LAST two columns, we learned how to build harmony guitar lines by stacking diatonic (scale-based) 3rd intervals above melody notes. Since the first melody note is A, we skip up to C for our first harmony note. To review, this technique involves taking each note of the melody and adding above it a note that's the interval of a 3rd, or two scale degrees, as it occurs within a related scale.
