Abstract

This article reviews an album featuring pianist Anna Fedorova performing works by composers including Ravel, Tailleferre, Gershwin, and others, accompanied by the Castille & Leon Symphony under conductor Pablo Gonzalez. The album opens and closes with major piano and orchestra pieces—Ravel’s Concerto in G and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue—while the middle section consists of shorter solo piano works characterized by improvisational and jazz influences. Fedorova’s interpretation of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue is noted for its fresh, rhythmically vibrant approach, contrasting with a more restrained performance of Ravel’s concerto, which suffers from muffled orchestral sound. The review highlights Tailleferre’s and Gershwin’s shorter pieces as particularly compelling classical works, with Fedorova’s flexible and spontaneous playing unifying the diverse repertoire.
