Abstract
An essay is presented which offers a response to the article "Kant's Musical Antiformalism," by James O. Young, published in a 2020 issue of "The Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism." Topics discussed include the argument given by Young regarding the perception of philosopher Immanuel Kant on music and fine arts, reasons why Kant may be acknowledged as a descriptive quasi-formalist with regard to music, the definition of formalism and antiformalism according to Young's book "Critique of Pure Music," and the artistic perspective which may be associated with evaluative formalism.
