Abstract

This article discusses a case of hypersensitivity pneumonitis in a tenor horn player caused by Pirpureocillium lilacinum. Despite attempts to decontaminate the instrument, the patient experienced a recurrence of symptoms after purchasing a new tenor horn. Further investigation revealed that the source of contamination was the patient's bathtub, where the instrument was being cleaned. It was discovered that the patient's dog, who had been washed in the bathtub, was the likely vector for the organism. Changing the cleaning routine resolved the issue, and the patient has since been discharged and continues to play the horn. [Extracted from the article]
