Abstract

The article focuses on expanding the traditional bell ceremony in cancer care, which typically marks the end of treatment, to honor diverse milestones throughout the cancer journey. It highlights that while the bell symbolizes triumph for many, it can also evoke feelings of exclusion or sorrow for patients with chronic or terminal diagnoses who may never complete treatment. By broadening the bell’s purpose to celebrate achievements such as completing treatment phases, transitioning to palliative care, or personal life events, oncology teams can foster inclusivity, compassion, and hope. This redefinition aligns with patient-centered care principles, supporting emotional well-being and recognizing resilience at every stage of cancer care.
