Abstract

Angela Bofill, a singer of Cuban-Puerto Rican descent, passed away at the age of 70. She was known for her hits in R&B and jazz, such as "I Try" and "This Time I'll Be Sweeter." Bofill was one of the first Latina singers to achieve success in these genres. She also provided backing vocals for Diana Ross and was inducted into the Women Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2023. After a stroke in 2007, Bofill took a break from performing but returned to the stage five years later. Singer Sheila E. paid tribute to Bofill, referring to her as "my sister my queen." Bofill released a total of 10 studio albums. [Extracted from the article]
