Abstract

This article focuses on the neuropsychology of resiliency in elite solo classical guitar players, examining their ability to manage complex cognitive and emotional demands during live performances. The study assessed 22 internationally acclaimed soloists using the NEO Five-Factor Inventory-3 (NEO-FFI-3), finding generally low levels of neuroticism, with female performers scoring higher than males on emotional control and stability. These findings suggest that professional solo musicians balance emotional expression with executive functioning, and sex differences may reflect distinct stress management or entry experiences in this traditionally male-dominated field. Limitations include a small sample size and cultural variability among participants from six nationalities.
