Abstract
Tom Waits has decided to remaster his albums from his time at Island Records. The first albums to be released are Swordfishtrombones, Rain Dogs, Franks Wild Years, Bone Machine, and The Black Rider. The albums have been remastered from the original tapes and are available on LP, CD, and digital platforms. The remastering process aimed to enhance the overall sonic image of the original mixes while preserving their strengths. The project was led by engineer Karl Derfler, with mastering engineer Chris Bellman and cutting engineer Alex Abrash also involved. The remasterings have been well-received, with subtle improvements in sound quality. Tom Waits and his wife, Kathleen Brennan, were involved in the process and provided feedback on specific tracks.
