Abstract
Run-DMC's debut album, released on March 27, 1984, is considered a pivotal moment in rap history, introducing a new, tougher and more spare style of hip-hop that drew inspiration from hard rock. Despite not achieving commercial success initially, the album's influence on the genre was significant, inspiring many to start their own hip-hop groups. The trio of MCs, Joseph 'Run' Simmons, Darryl 'D.M.C.' McDaniels, and turntablist Jason 'Jam Master Jay' Mizell, went on to release several more albums, but their debut remains a standout for its rawness and freshness. [Extracted from the article]
