Abstract
The article focuses on research conducted at Chitkara University in Punjab, India, examining the emotional and creative influences of Indian ragas. The study highlights a gap in existing literature regarding the unconscious effects of ragas on perception and behavior, specifically contrasting Raga Kedar (associated with happiness) and Raga Charukeshi (associated with sadness). Findings indicate that exposure to these ragas significantly influenced participants' emotional expression and creativity, with positive music enhancing creative output more than negative music, although both had notable effects. The research suggests a dual-pathway model of creativity influenced by the emotional valence of music. [Extracted from the article]
