Abstract
The article reviews several recent jazz and related music album releases, highlighting their distinctive artistic qualities. Aleph Aguiar’s *Sugar on my Blackbeans* offers a lively, danceable Latin jazz experience rooted in 1960s styles, featuring strong ensemble interplay. Louise Balkwill’s *Chatterbox* showcases her vocal storytelling and inventive vocalese on a mix of originals and standards, supported by accomplished musicians. Espen Berg’s *The Kempen Concert* demonstrates his evolving solo jazz piano improvisation with a Nordic blues influence. Tina Carr’s *Moon Over Mildmay* presents an intimate and confident collection of covers and interpretations framed by skilled collaborators. The duo album *Memento* by Marilyn Crispell (piano) and Anders Jormin (bass) explores nuanced musical conversations through composed and improvised pieces. John Butcher’s solo and collaborative saxophone works emphasize technical mastery and dynamic interplay, while *Ribbons Vol. 1* by Sara Colman and Rebecca Nash reflects a decade-long musical partnership blending jazz with impressionist and singer-songwriter influences.
