Abstract

This article focuses on the unexpected reunion and upcoming 2026 tour of Canadian progressive rock band Rush, featuring founding members guitarist Alex Lifeson and bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee, following the death of longtime drummer Neil Peart in 2020. After years of personal projects and initial reluctance, Lifeson and Lee began jamming again in late 2024, eventually recruiting German drummer Anika Nilles to fill Peart’s irreplaceable role, emphasizing respect for the original music while allowing room for her own expression. The tour, named Fifty Something, has expanded to 86 dates across North America, South America, and Europe, reflecting strong fan demand. Additionally, the article highlights Canadian duo Crown Lands, who are often compared to Rush and continue the prog-rock tradition with their ambitious conceptual album Apocalypse. The piece also includes a detailed overview of Lifeson’s most notable guitar work throughout Rush’s studio catalog. [Extracted from the article]
