Abstract

The article discusses a legal case in France involving the infringement of an author's moral rights by a music box melody. The court ruled that reproduction and fragmentation authorizations did not cover the melody, as it transformed and trivialized the original work. The music box company was ordered to pay damages, cease manufacturing and marketing the infringing music boxes, and destroy their existing stock. The court determined that the melody constituted an extreme simplification of the original work and violated the author's moral rights. [Extracted from the article]
