Abstract

A recent report from the University of Miami discusses the barriers and attitudes towards seeking mental health services among collegiate marching band artists. The study found that marching band artists face stressors that impact their physical, mental, and emotional health, and they encounter similar challenges to other college students and athletes. The research aimed to examine the perceived barriers and attitudes towards seeking care from mental health professionals among marching band artists. The study revealed that lack of time and availability of services were the most commonly reported barriers, and overall attitudes towards seeking help were neutral. The findings highlight the need for improved mental health care for marching band artists and increased awareness of the obstacles they face. [Extracted from the article]
