Abstract
The article focuses on the posthumous release of *Woody at Home—Volumes 1 & 2*, a collection of 22 previously unreleased recordings by iconic American folk singer, songwriter, and activist Woody Guthrie. These recordings, made at Guthrie's Brooklyn home in 1951-1952 on a Revere T-100 Crescent tape recorder, were restored and mixed using a combination of period-accurate tape transfer techniques and modern source separation technologies to isolate vocals and guitar. The project aims to present Guthrie's songwriting process authentically, preserving the original recording's ambiance and imperfections, and highlights the evolving nature of his songs, which were never considered finished by Guthrie himself. The release was co-produced by Grammy-winning engineer Steve Rosenthal alongside Guthrie's family, emphasizing the enduring relevance of Guthrie's themes such as social justice and inequality.
