Abstract
The article focuses on the current state and future directions of school nursing research, emphasizing the need for more rigorous, large-scale, and generalizable studies to strengthen the evidence base for practice. It highlights the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) research priorities, which call for multisite, longitudinal, and mixed-methods research to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and support inclusive student health outcomes. The article critiques the predominance of small-scale and qualitative studies in the field, noting their limitations in influencing policy and practice. It advocates for leveraging large datasets, interdisciplinary collaborations, and strategic research programs to produce actionable evidence that can be translated into real-world school nursing practices.
