Abstract
This text is a creative reflection by interdisciplinary artist Anna Maria Nabirye on her experiences in the theatre industry, highlighting disparities in how different company members' birthdays are celebrated. It contrasts the lavish cakes and formal recognition given to a white, Oxbridge-educated lead actor with the more modest treats provided for a Black supporting actor and a white female assistant stage manager. The reflection underscores subtle inequalities within the theatre company's social dynamics, using the symbolic distribution of cakes to illustrate these differences.
