Ginger intervention on body weight and body composition in adults: a GRADE-assessed systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis of 27 randomized controlled trials.

Abstract
This article systematically reviews and meta-analyzes 27 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the effects of ginger (Zingiber officinale) supplementation on body weight and body composition parameters in adults. The meta-analysis found that ginger consumption, particularly at doses around 2 g/day for durations longer than 8–10 weeks, was associated with significant reductions in body weight, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), and percent body fat, especially among individuals with a BMI ≥30 kg/m². However, the overall certainty of evidence was rated low to very low due to limitations such as geographic concentration of studies (mostly in Iran), modest sample sizes, and variability in study populations and designs. The authors conclude that ginger may be a promising dietary strategy for obesity management but emphasize the need for larger, well-designed RCTs to confirm these findings.
