Abstract

The article discusses research findings that show the health benefits of the Mediterranean diet for cancer patients. The Mediterranean diet has consistently been linked by researchers with reductions in cardiovascular disease, cancer and overall mortality due to its variety of included nutrients. A large systematic review and meta-analysis of 83 studies found an inverse association between adherence to the Mediterranean diet and a 14% lower risk of mortality for several cancer types.
