Acute effects of energy drink consumption on cardiovascular parameters in healthy adults: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials.

Abstract
This article systematically reviews and meta-analyzes randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the acute cardiovascular effects of commercially available energy drinks (EDs) in healthy adults. The analysis of 17 RCTs found that ED consumption significantly increases systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), and cardiac output (CO) within 30 to 120 minutes post-consumption, while no significant changes were observed in resting heart rate or QT/QTc intervals. The review noted no eligible studies on endothelial function and highlighted that caffeine content did not significantly modify blood pressure effects. Despite these findings, the authors caution interpretation due to the limited number of studies, some with high risk of bias, and recommend further well-designed RCTs to clarify the cardiovascular impact of EDs.
