Abstract
The article primarily focuses on the assessment of serum levels of interleukin-17A (IL-17A) and interleukin-22 (IL-22) in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), finding significantly elevated levels of both cytokines in autistic patients compared to healthy controls. It reports a cross-sectional study conducted at Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, involving 24 autistic children and 24 matched controls, but does not establish whether these elevated cytokine levels are causal or consequential. Additional studies summarized in the document address related pediatric health issues at Ain Shams University, including the underestimation of pulmonary arterial hypertension by transthoracic echocardiography in congenital heart disease, infection prevention challenges in pediatric hematology-oncology patients, vascular access complications in pediatric hemodialysis patients, and the impact of dysphagia on quality of life in children with cerebral palsy.
